Lake Winnisquam shoreline in Belmont, New Hampshire with houses on a wooded slope above the water in late autumn

Gutter Service in Belmont, NH

Belmont started as a mill village and then spread to the Lake Winnisquam shore. We cover it from Hampstead, about 1 hour 15 minutes and 53 miles by our estimate, and the gutters split the same way, older village houses on one side and lake properties that need ice protection on the other. Visits here are all booked well ahead.

Belmont was incorporated in 1859 as Upper Gilmanton and took the Belmont name in 1869, and its mill history is still the first thing you see on Mill Street. Out on the water, the town is a different place.

Mill Street and the older village houses

The Belmont Mill was built in 1833 to spin cotton and wool, and today it holds the senior center and community space. The town's median home was built in 1983, and 82% of homes are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24), but the streets near the mill hold older houses than that. Older village houses tend to have wood trim, shallow lots and runs that have been patched more than once.

We start with the fascia and the seams. Where a run has pulled loose or a seam has dried out, gutter repair is often the sensible first step before anyone talks about replacement. If a house is past that point, the main gutter service page covers installation.

Shallow village lots add a drainage question. A downspout that empties at the corner of an older foundation can keep that wall wet all spring. We check where each outlet lands and whether a longer extension would carry the water to the lawn.

Lochmere and the Lake Winnisquam shore

US 3 and NH 11 run along the Winnisquam shore in the northwest corner of town. Lake properties here face wind off the water and a freeze that comes early. Ice builds along a cold eave, and a gutter packed with leaves holds it in place.

That is the case for winter gutter protection on shoreline roofs, and for gutter cleaning in November before the first hard cold. We also look at attic heat, since ice dams come from warm roofs melting snow that refreezes at the eave, and better insulation and ventilation are the real cure.

NH 106, NH 140 and the size of the town

Belmont covers about 32 square miles, and only about 2 of them are water (Census figures), so most homes are inland, not on the shore. NH 106 runs through the town center, and NH 140 crosses it there on its way toward Gilmanton. Lochmere spans the line between Belmont and Tilton. With that mix of inland and shoreline roofs, we ask which one you have before we say what the gutters need.

Permits and the town's land use office

Belmont's Land Use and Building office is at 143 Main Street. The town says state law and its ordinances require a building permit for building work. We could not confirm that routine gutter replacement needs one, so ask the office. Before any trenching for a buried downspout line, Dig Safe has to be called.

What we can promise about distance

Belmont is farther than most of our service area, and we will not pretend a visit is close. Trips are booked ahead, and we may group yours with work in Tilton, Laconia or Gilford. We measure the runs, check the roof edge and give you a written price.

Belmont is covered as part of Belknap County.

What customers say

“Caio came out promptly to look at our 30,000 square foot commercial building in Plaistow and provided an estimate that evening. He came back a week later and did a wonderful job cleaning all of the gutters.”

“Caio was professional and courteous. He spotted multiple things that were wrong with our gutters beyond what we knew about and performed the repair promptly at an excellent price.”

Gutter questions from Belmont

Do you work on Belmont lake properties as well as village houses?

Yes, we cover both. Lake Winnisquam properties usually need attention to ice and heavy debris, while village houses tend to need seam and hanger repair. Belmont is a long trip from Hampstead, so visits are booked ahead. Tell us whether the house is on the shore or in the village when you call.

When should a Belmont homeowner clean gutters before winter?

After the leaves are down and before the first hard freeze, usually in late October or November. A trough full of wet leaves freezes into a solid weight on the hangers. Because we book Belmont visits ahead, call early in October so a cleaning date is not squeezed against the first cold snap.

Do I need a permit for gutter work in Belmont?

We could not confirm whether routine gutter replacement needs a permit in Belmont. Ask the town's Land Use and Building office at 143 Main Street; the town says state law and its ordinances require a building permit for building work. Dig Safe must be called before any trenching for a buried line.
