Gutter Service in Atkinson, NH

Atkinson Academy dates to 1787, but most homes here are far newer, large colonials near Atkinson Country Club with long rooflines. We cover Atkinson from Hampstead, about 5 miles and roughly 5 minutes by our estimate, and 6-inch seamless runs often suit those long eaves. On a house this size the downspout count matters as much as the gutter size.

Atkinson Academy has stood since 1787, and the town center still has the feel of an old New Hampshire village. The houses that make up most of the work are not from that era. They are large colonials from the 1980s and later, built around Atkinson Country Club, with eaves that run a long way without a break.

Long rooflines and 6-inch runs

A house with a 60-foot front eave and a two-car garage on the side has a lot of roof to drain. On a run that long, a small gutter overflows in a downpour, and the overflow lands in the same bed every storm. Moving to 6-inch seamless gutters adds capacity, and it removes the joints that leak on a sectional run.

Length also decides downspouts. A single downspout is practical for a run of about 50 feet at most (SMACNA), so a long eave on a big house needs one at each end, or one at the middle and one at the corner. We place them where the water can be carried clear of the foundation.

Homes by the country club

Atkinson's median home was built in 1980, and 93% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). The Atkinson Resort and Country Club opened its first nine holes in 1996 and the back nine in 1998, so the houses around the fairways run newer than the town's median. Houses like that tend to have tall rear walls, big decks and trees close to the roofline.

That mix leads to a few repeat problems: gutters pulled loose by ice, leaves piling at the corners, and a color that no longer fits after the siding or trim was repainted.

Choosing a size and a thickness

Five-inch gutters handle most ordinary roofs. For heavy roof planes, we step up to 6-inch, which handles a good deal more roof than a 5-inch at the same rainfall rate. Ask any installer which thickness the quote uses. The common residential aluminum is .027 inch, and .032 inch is used where snow load or the size of the house demands it.

Ice, snow and long eaves

A long eave holds a lot of snow, and a long gutter holds a lot of ice. Ice weighs about 57 to 60 pounds per cubic foot, so a full trough on a 60-foot run puts real load on every hanger. When hangers are spaced too far apart or screwed into soft fascia, the run sags first at the middle and then pulls away at the end.

We check hanger spacing and the wood behind it on any long run. If the fascia is sound, new hangers and a corrected pitch may be all it needs. If not, we tell you what has to be replaced before the gutter goes back up.

Services Atkinson homes ask for

Color, trim and the old village

Older homes in the village near the Academy, along Route 121, tend to have painted trim. A gutter in the same color as the trim disappears into the roofline. On newer houses, black or bronze gutters read as a design detail. We install colored gutters, including black, and we match to what you have. A paint chip or a photo of the trim helps.

Gutter questions from Atkinson

Do you install 6-inch gutters on larger Atkinson homes?

Yes. Six-inch seamless gutters carry about 44% more roof area than 5-inch, so long eaves and big roof planes are where we recommend them. We confirm by measuring roof area and counting valleys and downspouts. Mustafa J. wrote that we installed "6 inch gutters on my entire home" and what a difference it made.

Can you match gutters to homes near Atkinson Country Club?

Yes. We install white, black and other colors, so bring your trim or siding color and we will work out a match. On a large house the gutter is a long visible line, and a good color match makes it look like part of the house. We quote the colored profile in writing.

How soon can you visit Atkinson for a measurement?

Atkinson is about 5 miles from Hampstead, so it is one of our nearest towns. Call with your address and we will set the earliest visit we can. A measurement visit takes about as long as walking the roofline, and you get a written price after it.

What do gutter guards cost for an Atkinson home?

We price each job in writing after we see the roof. For a rough benchmark, Homeyou lists guards from $192 to $355 for 54 feet of gutter in 2026, so a large house with 200 feet or more of eave costs a good deal more. Our guide to [gutter guard cost in NH](/blog/gutter-guard-cost-nh/) explains the factors.
