Gutter Service in Salem, NH

Salem is 9 miles from our Hampstead base, around 10 minutes by our estimate, and commercial roofs matter here as much as houses. The I-93 retail strip and Tuscan Village sit beside 1960s capes around Canobie Lake. Big roof areas on one side of town and small lake lots on the other call for very different visits and written quotes.

Salem mixes retail with older lake neighborhoods, and that changes the work. Alongside ordinary house gutters, there are large roofs that need long runs, heavy downspouts and cleaning on a schedule.

Retail roofs along I-93 and at Tuscan Village

Salem's I-93 retail corridor has big buildings with a lot of roof draining to a few outlets. Tuscan Village is a redevelopment of about 170 acres on the old Rockingham Park racetrack, which opened in 1906 and closed in 2016. New construction there brings new roof edges, and older plazas nearby keep the aging ones.

When a downspout plugs on a plaza roof, water can reach a walkway quickly, so a building owner has two questions: how often to clean, and who to call when a seam opens. Our commercial gutters page covers that in detail. We cleaned, then repaired the seams on, a 30,000 square foot building in nearby Plaistow, and that same clean-first order is how we approach a plaza roof.

1960s capes around Canobie Lake and Arlington Pond

The median Salem home was built in 1977, and 76% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). Near Canobie Lake, many houses go back to the 1960s, and Arlington Pond, about 269 acres in North Salem, has its own ring of older lake homes. These are modest capes and ranches with shallow eaves, often under oaks and pines.

Gutters from that era are often hung with spike-and-ferrule hangers that loosen as the fascia ages. When the wood behind them goes soft, a hanger pulls out and the run sags. That is when a repair stops being a patch and starts being a replacement.

Signs a Salem gutter system is done

Four signs tell you the system is finished:

  1. A run that sags between hangers, even after a clean-out
  2. Rust streaks or flaking on the face of the gutter
  3. Fascia that gives under a screwdriver
  4. Seams that keep weeping after the last repair

One or two of these can be repaired. All four mean replacement, and replacement usually ends the string of repair calls. See gutter repair for what we can fix in place.

Lake lots and where the water ends up

Arlington Pond is the town's backup drinking-water source, and a town newsletter notes that Big Island Pond flows into it from Derry. That is a reason to be careful about where a lake-lot downspout ends. Water that leaves a gutter and runs across bare ground toward the shore carries grit and shingle granules with it.

On small lots we look at sending downspouts onto lawn or planted ground, with an extension long enough to clear the foundation. Before changing the grade near the water, check with the town and the state.

Planning a plaza or office roof

For a commercial building we ask four things before we quote: roof type, linear feet of gutter, number of downspouts and access around the building. Tenants and business hours decide when we can work. The usual order is clean first, then look at the seams and outlets, then quote what repair is needed in writing.

Nine miles down the road to Salem

Nine miles puts Salem within an easy drive. On site we measure the runs, check the fascia and hangers, and write up the price. Windham, Atkinson, Pelham, Derry and Plaistow are all close, so combined visits are possible when schedules line up. Salem belongs to Rockingham County, the same county as our base.

What commercial and home customers say

“Caio came out promptly to look at our 30,000 square foot commercial building in Plaistow and provided an estimate that evening. He came back a week later and did a wonderful job cleaning all of the gutters.”

“Caio was professional and courteous. He spotted multiple things that were wrong with our gutters beyond what we knew about and performed the repair promptly at an excellent price.”
Steve K. · Google review, a year ago as of November 2026
“We had a gutter put on to help divert rain from a rotting window. Company was responsive and came up with a solution to fix the entire problem rather than put a band aid on it.”

Gutter questions from Salem

Do you service commercial properties in Salem, NH?

Yes, we cover commercial gutter work here. Give us the building size, roof type and access limits, and we will plan a visit around tenants and hours. Our documented commercial job is a 30,000 square foot building in Plaistow, a few miles away, where we cleaned the gutters first and then repaired the seams.

Do you work on homes around Canobie Lake and Arlington Pond?

Yes, we cover the lake neighborhoods of Salem. Many of those houses are small capes on wooded lots, where gutters fill with leaves and needles and drain close to the foundation. We look at the roofline, the fascia and where each downspout ends before we quote anything in writing.

What are the signs a 1960s Salem gutter system needs replacing?

Look for sagging runs, rust streaks, hangers pulling out of soft fascia, and seams that drip long after rain stops. Peeling paint along the eave points to water getting behind the gutter. If you see two or three of these on one run, replacement usually makes more sense than a string of patches.
